Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and autonomous Head of Engineering to lead all technical and engineering matters across our 4 current markets. The successful candidate will oversee engineering activities from project development through construction, commissioning, and operations. This is a senior leadership role with significant responsibility and visibility within the company, offering the opportunity to shape how we design, build, and operate BESS projects.
Key Responsibilities
Development Stage
• Provide technical input during early-stage development, including site layout, design
optimization, and feasibility reviews.
• Supervise grid connection requests and liaise with system operators to ensure
technical compliance.
• Support due diligence on land, permitting, and regulatory requirements from an
engineering perspective.
Construction Stage
• Lead construction planning and provide oversight across the full EPC cycle.
• Act as the technical counterpart for reviewing and validating engineering deliverables
from contractors (drawings, specifications, reports, etc.).
• Lead or support negotiation of EPC, equipment supply, and O&M contracts, ensuring
technical annexes and schedules are consistent and enforceable.• Participate in contractor selection and ensure rigorous evaluation of technical and
commercial proposals.
• Monitor contractors during execution, ensuring quality, safety, and timing.
• Act as owner’s engineer during construction and commissioning phases.
• Ensure project handover, warranty follow-up, and post-construction supervision.
Strategic & Cross-functional
• Establish best practices for engineering processes across the company.
• Provide technical leadership for M&A or co-development opportunities, including
engineering due diligence.
• Collaborate closely with Development, Finance, and Operations teams to align project
execution with company strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
• University degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Other engineering backgrounds (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial) may be considered only
if combined with significant multi-MW BESS experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in renewable energy, including at
least 1 year directly in BESS.
• Experience in construction supervision, contracts, and project management (in
particular, EPC contract negotiation and technical supervision).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Highly motivated, autonomous, curious and comfortable working in a fast-paced
international startup environment.
• Languages: Fluent English and Spanish required; Italian and/or Polish are a plus.
