The Role: We seek an autonomous and proactive Financial Controller who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is eager to take ownership of the finance function from the ground up. Reporting to a manager based in another country, this position requires independence, initiative, and a business-partnering mindset. A key part of this role involves managing and controlling e-commerce transactions across different platforms and payment providers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with online payment systems, subscription management tools, and be able to reconcile large volumes of transactions accurately and efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Set up and manage financial systems, processes, and internal controls suited to a fast-evolving start-up environment. Oversee accounting, reporting, and compliance — including month-end close, statutory reporting, and tax filings in collaboration with external advisors. Monitor, reconcile, and control e-commerce and subscription-based transactions across multiple payment platforms. Ensure accuracy from order to cash: reconciliation between sales systems, payment gateways, bank statements, and accounting records. Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support business decisions and growth. Develop and maintain reporting dashboards to provide management with transparency on financial performance, especially e-commerce KPIs. Translate financial insights into understandable terms for non-finance colleagues and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Marketing, Operations). Act as liaison with auditors, tax consultants, banks, and other external stakeholders. Continuously improve financial procedures and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Support fundraising and investor relations with relevant financial data and analysis when needed. Assist in the financial aspects of international operations as the company expands across borders. What We’re Looking For: Fluent English (spoken and written), capable of effective communication with international management and team members. Strong autonomy and self-drive. Hands-on experience with payment processors (Adyen, Stripe, PayPal, etc.) and subscription management tools (Chargebee or similar). Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, reconciliation of high-volume online transactions, and related internal controls. Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar role (preferably in a start-up, scale-up, or fast-paced company). Strong understanding of Italian accounting, tax, and regulatory landscape. Experience with cloud-based finance tools and ERPs is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional qualifications are advantageous. J-18808-Ljbffr
