The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in optical product design and manufacturing, along with significant experience in conducting failure analysis and driving improvements. This role requires strong personal leadership and the ability to collaborate effectively with Cisco cross-functional teams and optics suppliers to drive continuous improvement in product quality and reliability. /ppAs a Failure Analysis Technical Leader specializing in optics at Cisco, you will collaborate with a diverse group of professionals to ensure the highest quality of optical products. Your interactions and responsibilities will include: /pullistrongHW/SW Engineering and Optics Component/Supplier Quality Engineering /strong : Work closely with these teams to conduct failure analysis and drive product quality improvements, ensuring alignment on failure analysis goals. /lilistrongCustomer Quality Engineer and Customer Escalation Teams /strong : Collaborate to address and resolve customer quality concerns, ensuring customer satisfaction. Prepare and deliver reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations. /lilistrongOptics Suppliers /strong: Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate effective communication and collaboration in the failure analysis process and product quality improvements. /li /ulpstrongYour Impact /strong /pulliCollaborating closely with Cisco teams and suppliers to conduct comprehensive failure analysis on optical products, including optical transport products and optics transceivers, as well as their sub-assemblies and components. /liliInvestigating and identifying root causes of product failures, leveraging your deep knowledge in optics and manufacturing processes. /liliDeveloping and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions to address identified failure modes. /liliWorking with cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive process improvements and enhance product quality and reliability. /liliMaintaining detailed documentation of analysis findings, methodologies, and outcomes to ensure transparency and continuous learning. /liliCommunicating effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers to ensure alignment and drive quality improvements. /liliStaying abreast of industry advancements and integrating new technologies and methodologies into failure analysis practices. /liliConduct comprehensive failure analysis investigations for optics products, including optical transport products and optics transceivers, to identify root causes of failures. /liliConduct physical failure analysis investigations to identify root causes of component failures. /liliDevelop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address identified failure modes. /liliAnalyze and interpret complex data to deliver actionable insights for product improvement. /liliLead Cisco cross-functional teams and optics suppliers in implementing solutions and driving improvements. /liliMaintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements in optics and failure analysis methodologies. /liliPrepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers. /li /ulpstrongMinimum Qualifications: /strong /pulliMinimum of a Master’s degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field /liliProven experience working in failure analysis for optical products. /liliStrong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate insights. /liliExcellent communication skills and demonstrated leadership are a must, with the ability to effectively collaborate with Cisco cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers. /liliGood understanding of optical products from component level to product and application level. /li /ulpstrongPreferred Qualifications: /strong /pulliMinimum of 8 years of experience in failure analysis and manufacturing. /liliKnowledge and experience in physical failure analysis. /liliKnowledge in circuit analysis and PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) manufacturing. /liliExperience in supplier quality and customer quality management. /liliGood understanding of reliability engineering and quality metrics. /liliFamiliarity with testing methodologies related to optical transport products and optics transceivers, as well as optics and electronics components. /li /ulpWhy Cisco? For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. The recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process. /ppU.S. employees haveaccess to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. /ppEmployees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days ofvacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Offpolicy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours ofunused sick timewill be carried forwardfrom one calendar yearto the nextsuch that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. /ppEmployees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: /pp.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; /pp1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; /pp1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation. /ppFor non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target.
