Job Description
The Engineering Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of all hotel equipment. This individual will possess the knowledge to diagnose and repair various types of equipment, including motors, starters, breakers, chillers, and associated systems throughout the entire building.
This position requires a strong analytical and critical thinking skillset, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a working technical knowledge of general building maintenance, including blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulics.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist the Director of Engineering in all aspects of hotel and building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire & safety, HVAC refrigeration, interior, paint and decorating.
* Oversee and manage engineering projects, while also ensuring the completion of all duties related to the residences, including maintenance, repairs, and coordination of resident requests.
* Supervise and train maintenance staff, scheduling and evaluating their performance, as well as conducting spot checks on a daily basis.
* Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies, and rules to ensure an efficient department.
* Monitor meter readings, evaluate energy consumption, and support the energy conservation program.
* Maintain close working relations with hotel contractors who provide reliable 24-hour emergency service.
Requirements and Qualifications
* High school education or equivalent experience; trade school in mechanics, refrigeration, etc., is preferred.
* 2-5 years of related engineering experience; previous experience in a luxury resort setting is a plus.
* Previous experience managing an engineering/maintenance team in a hospitality setting is essential.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to read and speak English fluently.
* Familiarity with Four Seasons cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures.
