Job Summary:
The F-16 Block 40 Simulator & Academic Instructor position supports USAFE’s Aircrew Training, Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC); Academic; and Simulator (ATLAS) III. The instructor is responsible for all aspects of Performance Work Statement specified ground-based training of F-16 Block 40 pilots.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:
1. Conducts academic training including Cockpit/Crew Resource Management (CRM), Instrument Refresher Course (IRC), Theater Indoctrination (TI), Local Area Orientation (LAO), Mission Qualification (MQT) and Flight Lead (FL) academics.
2. Conducts simulator training, including Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) and Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) in support of USAFE aircrew training. Acts as console operator and credibly fly a Full Mission Trainer (FMT) or part-task device simulator cockpit as flight lead or wingman.
3. Provides tactical academic instruction on basic mission sets and weapons employment (with assistance from squadron Weapons and Tactics personnel) on topics such as Basic Flight Maneuvering, Tactical Intercepts and Advanced Combat Maneuvering.
4. Performs annual proficiency checks of Contractor personnel as console instructors on a syllabus directed device events, such as Situational Emergency Procedure Training (SEPT), Mission Emergency Procedures Evaluation (MEPE), Night Vision Goggles (NVG), Local Area Orientation (LAO).
5. Assists as a Subject Matter Expert in the development of curriculum for new type courses.
6. Acts as a Lesson Subject Matter Expert to review existing lessons and/or changes to existing lessons.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
7. Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
8. Minimum of 5-years’ experience in A-10, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft.
9. Minimum of 500 hours in one or any combination of A-10, F-4, F-15, F-16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft.
10. Pilot or WSO Instructor (. “K” prefix in Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC)) experience in A-10, F-4, F-15, F- 16, F-22, F-35, or F-117 aircraft.
11. Able to fly the simulator in the capacity of a 2 or 4-ship flight lead using current tactics and employment standards. These instructors shall maintain ground training currency (IRC, CRM, and be physically qualified to perform these duties.
12. Must have basic Word, Excel, and Power Point Skills.
13. Must be a US citizen.
14. Must have a current Secret security clearance (or, used within the past 24 months).
Desired Qualifications:
15. Completion of the Air Combat Command (ACC) Classroom Instructor Course or equivalent is a plus.
16. Knowledgeable on the Air Traffic Control service and radio procedures is preferred.
17. Familiarity with Distributed Mission Operations (DMO).
Physical Demands:
18. Domestic and international travel as required.
19. Must be able to operate simulator and computer equipment.
20. Must have eyesight (correctable) to adequately see instructional guides and equipment in a cockpit using subdued lighting.
21. Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top of or under machinery.
22. Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
