Overview
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, celebrating its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in 2025, is looking for a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our team in Maranello, Italy. We are the first American F1 team since 1986, known as the 'family team', and we value innovation, teamwork, and excellence.
Responsibilities
Promote teamwork and effective communication across all departments.
Conduct structural analysis and optimization of F1 car components to ensure minimum weight, reliability, safety, and stiffness targets.
Utilize methods such as hand calculations, Finite Element Analysis (linear and non-linear), and software tools.
Perform structural optimization including topological, shape, and composite laminate analysis, and automate processes through scripting and programming.
Focus on the analysis of composite components like chassis, gearbox, wings, bodywork, and suspensions.
Adhere to all safety regulations and perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Designer Structure.
Qualifications
University degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering, or related field; a master's degree is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 in professional motorsports.
Strong communication skills and excellent command of English.
Deep understanding of Finite Element methods and their limitations.
Ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions, and work collaboratively within a team.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with CAD systems like Catia V5 (basic functions), HyperWorks/Optistruct, Abaqus, Design Studio/Genisis, and programming languages such as Matlab, Python, VBA.
Work Environment
The role involves working in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with potential domestic and international travel, long hours, and physical demands including lifting and manual dexterity. The environment includes machinery, race cars, and hazardous materials, requiring compliance with health and safety policies.
