Role Objective
The Instrumentation Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the engineering and development of instrumentation systems for industrial plant projects. Acting as
Instrumentation Project Leader
, the engineer manages technical activities with increasing autonomy, ensuring compliance with project requirements, company procedures, and safety and quality standards, while respecting schedule and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities

Review and comment on PFDs and P&IDs with regard to instrument representation.
·
Prepare and review general and detailed instrumentation specifications.
·
Develop material requisitions for instruments and bulk materials.
·
Conduct technical bid evaluations of vendor proposals.
·
Support package specialists with material requisitions, clarifications, and document reviews.
·
Review and approve vendor documentation and coordinate integration with other disciplines.
·
Provide input to related departments (e.g., cable interfaces, loads and dimensions, piping connections).
·
Develop instrumentation design documents and technical layouts.
·
Prepare 2D layouts for instrument and junction box arrangements, cable routing, pneumatic equipment, etc.
·
Instruct the Automation & Control team on cabling, earthing, and grounding design.
·
Prepare instrument hook-ups and material take-offs.
·
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and manage punch lists for key instrumentation packages.
·
Interface directly and independently with clients, vendors, and project teams.
·
Participate in coordination meetings and site visits to gather or deliver engineering data.
·
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities as required.
Skills and Qualifications
·
Master's degree in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
·
Minimum of 10 years' experience in a similar role within an engineering company.
·
Strong knowledge of P&IDs, schematic diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
·
Familiarity with 3D modeling software is considered a plus.
·
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to manage priorities across diverse teams.
·
Proactive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and eagerness to learn.
·
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
·
Willingness to travel both in Italy and internationally for short or extended periods.
