Senior Satellite Communications TechnicianSpektrum supports NATO, UN, EU, and national governments with specialist services in satellite communications, cybersecurity and command‐control systems. This role is part of the Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS) for the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA).Role Duties and Responsibilities Operate and perform unit and field‐level maintenance and emergency interventions on the Satellite Ground Station and associated communications facilities, and terrestrial links (DLOS, fibre) terminating at the SGS.Maintain station logs and ensure proper outage reporting.Activate circuits in accordance with circuit work orders.Operate and maintain data networks to provide reach‐back/backhaul anchoring for deployed NATO forces.Provide feedback to the Chief Technician and Station Engineers for internal training program improvements, and ensure maintenance personnel comply with prescribed maintenance procedures.Participate in On‐the‐Job‐Training (OJT) programs to complement the official NCI Academy training program.Perform all duties requested by Station Command, related to the daily functioning of the Site and its position within NCIA, NATO, and the local community.Carry out other duties as directed. Essential Skills, Experience and Certifications Comprehensive knowledge of antenna sub‐systems (radome, feed horn, reflector, pedestal, waveguides, tracking receiver, servo and drive equipment) including fault diagnosis and repair.Experience with transmit and receive chains (up and down converters, Low‐Noise Amplifiers and High‐Power Amplifiers).Familiarity with MODEM's, cryptographic equipment, routers and switches.Computer‐assisted Monitor and Control System (M&CS) for system supervision.Knowledge of GPS‐disciplined Frequency Reference Standards and associated distribution systems.Experience with fibre‐optical cables and other tail systems.In‐depth knowledge of digital techniques.Desirable: TCP/IP fundamentals, video transmission principles and telecommunications quality assurance practices.Testing and maintenance of modern communications systems.Proven ability to communicate effectively orally, using tact and diplomacy, with good briefing skills. Desirable Skills, Experience and Certifications Online performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital networks and associated transmission systems, including packet‐switching systems for voice and data transfer.Prior experience working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements.Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT. Education Vocational training at a higher level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent, or Diploma of secondary education – and five years of relevant experience; ORAt least five years' experience in the operation or maintenance of satellite ground terminals/stations, or related systems such as radars or Line‐Of‐Sight.
