Overview Datacenter & Network System Engineer - Sesto Fiorentino role at Spindox. On-site presence is required 3 days out of 5. Location: Sesto Fiorentino – On-site 3 days out of 5. Responsibilities Define, implement, and maintain datacenter systems in line with contractual and system requirements; provide comparative analyses of contractual documents and tender/bid technical proposals. During integration and development, support the IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation & Qualification) team and coordinate with suppliers to build the designed infrastructure (datacenter IT and network equipment). Apply practical experience with devices such as firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers. Collaborate in the design and configuration of network systems (on-field expertise of at least 1/2 year). Ensure sound technical knowledge across IT systems supporting virtualized and containerized environments, from design to configuration and operation. Qualifications Professional experience of a minimum of 3 years in the definition, implementation, and maintenance of datacenter systems. Field experience in the design and configuration of network systems (at least 1/2 year). Strong knowledge of virtualization (HW, Hypervisor and SW architectures) and experience sizing and implementing Hyper-Converged VE solutions. Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, Spanning Tree, redundancy protocols such as HSRP/VRRP) and network management protocols (SNMP). Knowledge of cybersecurity and information security: application firewalling (UTM), access control rules, etc. Good knowledge of operating systems (Windows and Linux). Experience with IT hardware vendors and ability to perform comparative analyses of IT proposals. Knowledge of Windows services (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, GPO, PKI infrastructures, MSSQL). Plus: Proxmox VE knowledge; capacity to troubleshoot virtualized infrastructure with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus); full stack understanding from bare metal to hypervisor management; knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes/Ceph; cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) with Azure and AWS; hybrid cloud; scripting (Python). Certifications such as Cisco CCNA or Proxmox-related certifications are a plus; other VE system certifications are advantageous. Fluency in written and spoken English is highly recommended. Strong problem-solving attitude with a proactive approach and interest in staying up to date with new technologies. Quantitative mindset and strong analytical skills; passion for data exploration and data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
