About the role
A mechanical engineer designs, develops, and manages mechanical solutions for equipment. They collaborate with R&D departments throughout all phases of product development, including troubleshooting and testing of final products. They also estimate project costs, make modifications, troubleshoot issues, follow safety regulations, and maintain detailed records.
Main responsibilities
* Design, model, and test prototypes;
* Conduct research and create design proposals;
* Develop project specifications and requirements;
* Establish design briefs considering cost, safety, and time constraints;
* Apply research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, including mathematical modeling, CAD, and FEM;
* Create concepts, performance, and production criteria;
* Select materials needed for production;
* Design and implement cost-effective modifications to improve safety and reliability;
* Identify and control hazards to ensure safety;
* Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to solve problems;
* Conduct feasibility analyses for reliable production and performance;
* Produce 2D and 3D documentation;
* Prepare reports and present updates to the engineering team;
* Create and maintain spare parts lists;
* Visit production facilities to evaluate processes and modifications;
* Support patent activities if required;
* Participate in team meetings and testing of new solutions;
* Work with production staff to verify assembly of designs.
Requirements
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks & Inventor preferred);
* Willingness to adopt new techniques and technologies;
* Ability to work under pressure;
* Troubleshooting and system testing skills;
* Teamwork capability;
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
* Willingness to travel within the Netherlands and collaborate with the R&D team in Italy.
