RAN System Engineer • Vodafone – Milan Vodafone is looking for a
RAN System Engineer
to join our Mobile Access team. The role focuses on the design, implementation and performance optimisation of the Radio Access Network (RAN) and its integration with the Core and Transport networks.
What You’ll Do
Support the evolution of Mobile Access Architecture in line with the Architecture Blueprint.
Design access network components, focusing on logical connectivity, security and synchronisation of RAN base stations.
Manage technical acceptance of Radio hardware and software, with emphasis on RAN transport and transmission capabilities.
Define RAN KPIs and performance targets.
Analyse and troubleshoot Mobile Access performance issues and design improvement guidelines.
Provide high‑level design (HLD) and low‑level design (LLD) for Access Networks.
Key Accountabilities and Decision Ownership
Define reference RAN configurations and RAN transport capabilities.
Collaborate with VBPS and ND to deliver customised solutions.
Define MPN specific Radio Transport configurations for Vodafone RAN suppliers.
Manage technical acceptance and life cycle of RAN configuration and SW functionalities.
Ensure optimal design and parameterisation to maximise access network performance.
Who You Are
Deep knowledge of radio access technologies (2G/3G/4G/5G) and 3GPP protocols.
Strong background in IP networking, synchronisation technologies and transport security (IPSec/MACsec).
Experience managing complex customised solutions and inter‑working with core and transport networks.
Excellent decision‑making skills and ability to meet deadlines in a project environment.
Must Have Technical / Professional Qualifications
Good awareness of wider technology aspects in telecommunications and ICT.
Very good knowledge of 3GPP Radio Protocols and mobility procedures.
Deep IP networking expertise.
Inter‑functional relationships and strong collaboration skills.
