Role Overview
Health Italia is building a new Medical Analytics capability within the Group IT Department and is looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to support the evolution of our data, analytics, and AI ecosystem.
The role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines that support operational reporting, business intelligence, medical analytics, automation, and future AI initiatives across the Group.
The ideal candidate is a senior technical professional with strong experience in modern data engineering practices, cloud-based data architectures, integrations, ETL/ELT pipelines, and large-scale data processing environments.
Experience in healthcare, insurance, welfare, or other regulated industries managing sensitive data is considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
* Build and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics environments
* Integrate data from multiple internal and external systems, APIs, and platforms
* Support the implementation of reporting, operational analytics, and business intelligence initiatives
* Collaborate with IT, business, and external vendors on data architecture and integrations
* Ensure data quality, integrity, consistency, and governance across systems
* Support cloud-based data infrastructure and modern analytics platforms
* Contribute to future AI, automation, and predictive analytics initiatives
* Participate in technical architecture decisions and platform evolution
* Produce and maintain technical documentation and data flow mappings
Required Skills & Experience
* 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related technical roles
* Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database systems
* Experience with ETL/ELT tools and large-scale data processing
* Strong experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native environments (AWS and Azure preferred)
* Experience with Databricks and modern analytics/data processing platforms
* Experience designing and maintaining data warehouses and analytics platforms
* Knowledge of APIs, integrations, and data synchronization processes
* Experience with Python and/or .NET environments is considered a plus
* Strong understanding of data modelling and data architecture principles
* Experience with reporting and BI environments
* Familiarity with security, GDPR, and sensitive data handling best practices
* Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
* Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in healthcare, insurance, welfare, or regulated industries
* Experience with modern analytics ecosystems and AI-related initiatives
* Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
* Experience working in complex multi-system enterprise environments
