Senior Electrical Project Engineer - Layout & E-BoP Designer Location(s): Rome, 62, IT, 00192 RWE Renewables Italia S.r.l. To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent Functional area: Engineering As an Electrical Senior Project Engineer Onshore, you will provide electrical engineering support to our renewable onshore energy projects in Southern Europe, focusing on farm/plant layout and electrical balance of plant (E-BoP) design. Your Tasks Serve as the point of contact and take technical responsibility for electrical engineering during project development, construction, and operation, including: Preparing, reviewing, and aligning concept/early engineering of E-BoP for onshore assets, partly in-house and partly with external providers. Prepare, review, and align execution E-BoP designs, reports, specifications, and drawings, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements. Support regulatory planning and administrative filings such as environmental and building permits. Develop RFPs for engineering work, evaluate submissions, and recommend selections. Support tendering, negotiations, and procurement processes for E-BoP. Coordinate with external consultants and review contractor design documents for consistency. Support grid connection processes, organizing technical documentation, test reports, and certifications. Manage electrical works on-site, including site management of electrical units for wind, PV, battery plants, and substations. Participate in factory and site acceptance tests of assets and components. Assist in E-BoP contracting and construction planning, including site visits to verify compliance and feasibility. Maintain as-built drawings and documentation. Support technical due diligence for project mergers & acquisitions, analyzing simulation results and reviewing solutions for risks and decisions. Identify market opportunities, lead benchmarking, prequalification, and consultant selection. Enhance specifications and designs based on operational feedback and harmonize solutions per local requirements. Collaborate with development and construction teams and the global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice. Your Profile Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of Italian standards and grid connection processes. Experience with electrical design, construction, and operation of wind farm electrical components (MV and HV). Experience in onshore wind farm design and optimization, including infrastructure, logistics, and interconnection. Proficiency in Power Factory software. Experience with tenders, project review, and QA/QC procedures. Understanding of power system analysis, contract management, and claims. Ability to work in international and virtual teams. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Fluent in English and Italian; additional languages beneficial.
