Context Columbus is an online feedback instrument that helps students in the third grade of secondary education make an informed choice for higher education. The tool provides insights into personal interests, abilities, and values, and encourages reflection on who they are, what motivates them, and what they can do. The development of Columbus is led by an interdisciplinary and inter-university expert group (UAntwerpen, KU Leuven, UGent, and Arteveldehogeschool) commissioned by the Flemish Government. You will work partly as a research assistant within the Columbus project and also as a valorization officer for a recently approved SBO project "Empowering the Study Choice Process for Higher Education through Online Self-Assessment Feedback and Effective Career Guidance." In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues from UGent, UAntwerpen, KULeuven, and Arteveldehogeschool. Research Assistant (60-70%) Investigate how Columbus can be optimized for students with a labor-market-oriented orientation. Monitor Columbus usage through an annual user survey. Assist in expanding Columbus by developing a new module focused on broad orientation regarding post-secondary opportunities. Collaborate with the Columbus team on further development, validation, and implementation of the instrument in the wider educational field. Valorizations Officer (40-30%) Develop learning paths to help students process feedback within Columbus to support their study choice. Gather testimonials from students and teachers who have recently used Columbus. Organize webinars to promote the use of the Columbus tool. Develop interventions based on research insights from SBO research lines in secondary schools. Help establish a Community of Practice for Columbus users. Profile Master’s degree in Education Sciences, Pedagogical or Psychological sciences. Experience or expertise in educational career guidance. Strong interest in study orientation and/or conducting qualitative and quantitative measurements to understand the study choice process via Columbus. Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis (e.g., SPSS, R, Nvivo) and willingness to further develop these skills. Good writing skills and proficiency in academic English. Interest in translating research into practice in higher education. Fluent in Dutch, both spoken and written, to communicate with partners and the government. Ability to clearly explain complex research results to diverse audiences. Work quality-oriented, honest, creative, and collaborative. Offer A contract of up to 100% divided as follows: Research assistant: 60-70%, fixed-term ATP A, salary scale A21, from October 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, renewable until the project ends (December 31, 2029). Valorizations officer: 30-40%, fixed-term ATP A, salary scale A21, from October 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, renewable until the project ends (September 30, 2029). Relevant prior professional experience may be recognized in seniority pay, up to a maximum of 10 years, determined at employment. Experience within education is fully recognized.
