Job Description
This is a 9 month fixed term contract, based in our Porcari site.
As a Shipping Coordinator, you will be responsible for efficient shipping of product to customers, and inbound shipments from vendors. You will coordinate freight pickups and arrange shipping details using internal and web-based logistic systems. In this role, you will organize shipping documentation, ensuring proper bills of lading are generated and that international documents are coordinated with the accounting team.
Job Responsibilities
* Coordinates record keeping on inbound/outbound shipments and preparing documents for shipment.
* Evaluates shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
* Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
* Tracks and expedites inbound and outbound shipments as needed.
* Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors.
* Negotiates rates with carriers.
* Purchases shipping supplies and negotiates pricing for items such as boxes, skids, dividers etc.
Qualifications
* 5 years of shipping experience, in manufacturing or distribution company preferred.
* Must have adequate computer skills (Office 365).
* Must have analytical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Critical Skills
* Extreme attention to detail, good organizational skills.
* Able to multitask and work unsupervised for extended periods of time.
* Able to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
* Strong interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and team-based skills are essential.
