* The Role
Catalent is seeking a skilled and proactive Buyer Direct Material Officer to join our Procurement team. This role is responsible for managing raw material sourcing, driving cost optimization, and ensuring supplier collaboration to support business continuity and operational excellence.
* Key Responsibilities
* Participate in cross-functional initiatives to reduce cost and improve service levels across Supply Chain, R&D, and Finance.
* Identify cost reduction and risk mitigation opportunities.
* Negotiate and monitor prices for locally managed raw materials.
* Maintain accurate purchase volumes, pricing, lead times, and MOQ data in the ERP system.
* Process new supplier requests through Financial Shared Services.
* Analyze raw material price changes and discrepancies to assess financial impact.
* Run RFQs, evaluate quotations, and recommend suppliers based on best pricing and value.
* Collaborate with other Catalent sites to manage shortages or discontinuations.
* Support R&D in identifying new raw materials and ensuring supplier qualification.
* Optimize cash flow by negotiating extended payment terms or discounts.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives led by the Procurement Manager.
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience in procurement or supply chain, ideally in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sector.
* Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
* Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Fluent in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
