Overview
This role focuses on a project engineer for national and international R&D projects and consultancies, related to ship electric load balance optimisation and to onboard power grid architecture modelling, simulation, performance assessment and grid management optimisation.Responsibilities
- Participate in national and international R&D projects focused on maritime electrification and power generation and distribution systems optimisation, in both naval and merchant ship fields.
- Develop consultancies and projects related to modelling, simulation, performance assessment and grid management optimisation of innovative marine power systems (MV/LV - AC/DC architectures, high frequency drives/generators, innovative converters).
- Support and participate in experimental measures on board ships to validate simulation models.
- Contribute to CETENA (and Fincantieri Group) activities of technical development, within funded projects, also interacting with international partners.
- Contribute to the growth of CETENA's network of partners and stakeholders in the field of innovation for maritime sector electrification.
- Issue reports related to research, innovation and consultancy projects.
- Contribute to the industrialisation of the results of research projects.
- Identify new opportunities and prepare new proposals in the framework of European, international, and national R&D programmes.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Naval Engineering with a PhD in Electrical Engineering) with focus on electric grids, energy storage systems, smart grids, modelling, simulation and optimisation of power systems.
- Technical competencies
- Use of DigSilent / PowerFactory and/or Matlab/Simulink.
- Excellent reporting skills, both verbal and written.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
- Experience in electric experimental measures is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Italian.
