Overview

PhD position in experimental hematology to study normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology. The Porse group at the Finsen Laboratory/BRIC at University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to work on hematopoietic stem cell biology.

The research group

The Porse group (Finsen Laboratory/BRIC) focuses on mechanisms governing normal and malignant haematopoiesis with emphasis on hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) during adult haematopoiesis and malignant transformation. We use mouse models of pre-malignant and malignant conditions, mouse knockout lines of stem cell regulators, primary patient material, and genome-wide approaches including single cell analyses and single cell proteomics. The Porse group is affiliated with the Finsen Laboratory at Rigshospitalet and with BRIC at the University of Copenhagen.

Project

The successful candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary group working on normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology, including diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia. The candidate will use advanced CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing in primary human and murine hematopoietic stem cells to assess novel regulators of HSC biology. There will be a large degree of freedom to shape and drive the research projects forward.
