To further strengthen our organization and support the continuous growth and excellence of our operations, we are seeking a Procurement Director to lead and develop the Purchasing function at a national level.
This is a strategic leadership role, reporting directly to the Managing Director and acting as a key member of the Italian Leadership Team.
Role Purpose
The Procurement Director will be responsible for defining and executing the procurement strategy of Compass Group Italia, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, sustainability, and supply continuity across all categories.
Operating in a complex, multi-site and fast-paced environment, the role requires a strategic yet hands-on leader capable of managing a structured procurement organization, driving performance, and building strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
The Procurement Director will ensure alignment with Group standards, business objectives, and client expectations, while supporting commercial growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Define and implement the national procurement strategy in line with Group guidelines and local business priorities.
Lead, develop and coordinate the entire Procurement organization, ensuring clear governance, accountability and performance management.
Negotiate national framework agreements and strategic contracts with key suppliers.
Drive cost optimization initiatives across food and non-food categories, safeguarding quality and service levels.
Ensure supply chain continuity and risk management in a dynamic and regulated environment.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, QHSE and Sales to support business performance and commercial tenders.
Promote sustainable sourcing practices in alignment with corporate ESG priorities.
Ensure effective use of digital tools and systems (Microsoft environment, advanced Excel, ERP systems, reporting platforms) to monitor KPIs and enable data-driven decision making.
Manage supplier performance through structured evaluation processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations and applicable regulations.
Required Profile
Proven experience in a senior Procurement leadership role, preferably within foodservice, collective catering, retail, FMCG or similarly structured multi-site environments.
Strong track record in negotiating complex contracts and managing strategic supplier relationships.
Solid expertise in cost analysis, budgeting and spend management.
Experience in international or highly structured organizations is highly valued.
Excellent command of English; Italian fluency is required.
Strong digital and systems proficiency, particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem (advanced Excel, reporting tools, ERP systems).
Strategic mindset combined with a pragmatic, hands-on and results-oriented leadership style.
Strong communication skills, credibility with senior stakeholders and ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
University degree in Business Administration, Management Engineering or related fields.
Background in collective catering or foodservice operations.
Familiarity with sustainability and responsible sourcing frameworks.
Experience working within international governance and procurement standards.
