Role
As part of organizational development, Webuild is seeking a MEP Design Manager for its international projects, with an operational on-site assignment.
Main responsibilities
* Technical management of the MEP phases of the contract, including supervision and control of time, cost and quality compliance;
* Coordination with project management: sharing critical issues and solutions during the project phases;
* Document control: verification of the completeness and quality of technical documentation;
* Review and approval of technical documentation: technical verification of plant designs and related certification;
* Project coordination: ensuring that MEP disciplines are integrated with each other and with civil, structural and architectural works (architectural finishes);
* Preparation of documentation in support of requests for quotations or contracts relating to subcontracts or purchases of MEP components;
* Active participation in the selection of subcontractors for engineering and construction services.
* Interface with the client, the project manager (or engineer), JV partners, suppliers and subcontractors: management of operational and technical relations;
* Analysis and evaluation of alternative Value Engineering design proposals;
* Preparation and coordination of Design Change Requests (DCRs);
* Development of shop drawings: assistance in the preparation of construction documents, taking into account interference between systems and civil works;
* Construction support:
* collaboration in the preparation and updating of Method Statements, construction sequences, operating instructions and Inspection & Testing Plans (ITPs);
* collaboration in preparing field change requests (FCRs);
* collaboration in resolving non-compliance issues.
* Variation management: assessment of the impact of design changes on MEP systems and coordination of any economic and technical updates with the site, subcontractors and designers.
* Testing, commissioning and start-up of systems: assistance, planning and coordination during all T&C phases, to subcontractors and suppliers of works/equipment/systems/plant materials;
* Critical and constant analysis of the evolution of basic quantities in all phases of the project to ensure budget compliance, anticipating problems and actively collaborating in their management.
Requirements
Education: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering.
Experience: At least 10-15 years of relevant experience in plant engineering, particularly in technical offices on construction sites or as an operational project manager.
Languages: Advanced English (oral and written communication with international clients) Minimum B2.
Other: Certifications in safety and project management are considered a plus.
Skills
* In-depth knowledge of the methodologies and design sequences of mechanical (HVAC, fire protection), electrical, instrumental (BMS/SCADA/ELV) and hydraulic systems
* Experience in managing complex infrastructure and civil engineering projects.
* Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams of technicians, architects and engineers.
* Familiarity with local and international regulations in the field of plant engineering.
* Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM)
* Familiarity with plant control systems (BMCS) with communication and security systems
* Ability to think critically
