Job Title : Junior Graphics Designer Assistant
Hourly Rate :$17.00 per hour; non-exempt classification
Duration : Academic Year (Fall/Spring) with the possibility of extension
Work Schedule : Up to 20 hours/week (no more than 999 hours per calendar year.) Schedule developed with the Graphics & Marketing Director
Training Period : Two months with the possibility of extension
General Statement :
Under the general supervision of the Graphics & Marketing Director, the Junior Graphics Designer Assistant provides design support to the University-Student Union (U-SU). The Junior Graphics Designer Assistant is responsible for performing varied design tasks and projects for the effective operation of the U-SU Graphics department.
General Duties and Responsibilities :
Assists creative team in design tasks from conception to completion using a variety of platforms;
Creates and archives digital assets for web and social media promotional campaigns;
Prepares design files for print and coordinates production with supervisor;
Maintains and organizes project files;
Assists in photoshoots and photographing activities and events;
Assists in large format signage installation;
Attends and participates in scheduled Graphics staff meetings, meetings with supervisor, and U-SU training sessions;
Provides quality customer service to the University community;
Assists with projects and events, and may assist staff with leading Production Aide on projects;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled Cal State LA student with a minimum of 6 undergraduate units and a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0, or graduate student with at least 4 graduate units and a minimum Cal State LA cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0;
Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff;
Ability to interact positively and build effective working relationships;
Willingness to provide effective customer service promptly and courteously;
Strong organizational skills: the ability to prioritize, complete assigned duties, and varied tasks;
Strong interpersonal and group communication skills in a team environment;
Must be self-motivated, able to adjust to changing workloads, and have some independent judgment;
Proficient oral, written, and listening skills;
Experience using various desktop and web-based applications, and office equipment;
Experience in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, MacIntosh applications, and printing preferred;
Knowledgeable and understanding of social media platforms preferred;
