The Engineering Division of Randstad Professional Leaders Search & Selection - specialized in the search and selection of middle & senior management profiles - on behalf of our client, a global provider of industrial plants and systems, we are looking for a:
SENIOR TECHNICAL BUYER
The Senior Technical Buyer will play a critical role in sourcing complex components, equipment, and services essential for our bespoke engineering projects. This role reports directly to the Procurement Manager and requires a proactive, results-oriented professional with a strong technical background and exceptional negotiation skills.
Take ownership of the end-to-end procurement process for technical components, proprietary equipment, and specialized services, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, defined Incoterms, and technical data input from Engineering and Operations Departments;
Conduct proactive, worldwide market monitoring, scouting, and competitive intelligence gathering on supplier landscapes to ensure business effectiveness, cost optimization, and supply chain resilience;
Lead complex negotiations with global suppliers to secure advantageous contracts, improved pricing, and optimal terms of business. Utilize best-practice procurement tools and methods to identify opportunities for significant business savings;
Rigorously ensure all sourcing activities, supplier negotiations, and contract awards adhere strictly to internal company guidelines, purchasing policies, and regulatory compliance standards;
Cultivate, maintain, and manage robust, long-term relationships with key strategic suppliers to foster strong communication, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous performance improvement;
Critically assess technical tenders, proposals, and quotations submitted by potential suppliers, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and delivery requirements;
Develop and champion strategies and ideas focused on enhancing operational efficiency, delivering added value, and supporting the continuous improvement of overall supply chain performance;
Prepare and process complex purchase orders accurately, reflecting the terms of final negotiations and organizational targets.
A relevant degree in Business/Commercial studies, Manufacturing, or Engineering is strongly preferred;
Proven experience (5/7 years) in a technical purchasing role, ideally within the industrial plant engineering, power generation, or energy/oil & gas sectors;
Significant experience in negotiating and managing complex supplier contracts (terms, conditions, and SLAs);
High proficiency with SAP or a comparable ERP system is mandatory;
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and cost modeling;
Fluent English is mandatory.
Highly skilled in establishing and maintaining effective and productive relationships with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Sales, Operations) and external suppliers;
Strongly results-orientated, with a proven ability to plan, manage, and deliver against aggressive project deadlines. LOCATION : near Novara - 2/5 Smart working
