THE ROLE
Starlight is developing in Italy a pipeline of solar PV, batteries, onshore and offshore wind assets for a total capacity in excess of 3GWp, with an internal development team and the support of external advisors. The VP of Business Development will lead the development of a portion of this pipeline, by coordinating different stakeholders and counterparties, both internal and external, and will also be responsible for its further increase by originating new business opportunities in Italy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage and be accountable for the development activities of a portion of the active pipeline under development
* Oversee the activities performed by external parties involved in the development process, ensuring alignment and cooperation for the purpose of achieving the ready-to-build status for the assets under development
* Originate further initiatives to pursue in order to increase the size of the pipeline in the country
* Support and coordinate the internal business development team in the relationship with landowners, consultants and local authorities such as municipalities, energy regulatory bodies, DSOs, TSO, electricity market operators, industrial associations, other utilities and / or operators, etc.
* Analyse local project development issues, with particular reference to land rights, permits, and environmental aspects in order to collect the relevant information to be then fed into the relevant authorisation processes
* Manage relationships with other internal divisions of Starlight (financial, technical and legal) and the NextEnergy Group (central functions) in order to ensure that each single project is developed in alignment with the best market standards and the set strategy
* Analyse the market / regulatory framework and actively participate in key stakeholders’ events to anticipate and address some of the most relevant political decisions and regulatory changes
* Assume the role of Director in the SPVs owning the assets under development, if requested, and represent them in front of any relevant external authority

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
* 5+ years of experience in a similar role in the renewable energy sector
* Bachelor’s Degree with a quantitative focus (e.g., Finance, Engineering, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Economics)
* Previous experience in collaborating with developers, financial advisors, industrial players or infrastructure / private equity funds is highly valuable
* Good understanding of local market dynamics, regulations and contract law
