Torino, Italy Engineering Italdesign is looking for an assertive and dynamic Chassis suspension development Team Leader, who will be employed in the Chassis Team, part of the Aerodynamics, Air Conditioning & Thermal Management department of the Italian site of Italdesign. S/He will be responsible to reach the targets of the assigned field of development. Responsibilities The role, focused on the coordination of a work team aimed at the development of new suspension concepts for production vehicles, requires at least 3 years of experience in the automotive sector. S/He will take an active part in: - Definition of technical contents needed to ensure proper parts definition; - Overview and steer the Team during the complete project timeline; - Control/monitoring of timing, costs and quality of work; - Management of the work team, product suppliers and management of collaboration with other internal department; - Customer and suppliers management; - Achievement of the project’s technical targets relevant to the perimeter of responsibility; - Management of "escalation" activities relating to serious problems with a proposed solution. Requirements: Key requirements - Knowledge of the vehicle suspensions (guidelines for definition of the systems, best practices, costs and time); - Production technologies and tooling lead time (main materials used, welding, surface treatments, linings); - Intermediation capacity between their own team and the other teams involved; - Decision making skills combined with an assertive and persuasive leadership style; - Multitasking ability respecting the quality standards and required timelines; - Ability to anticipate, manage critical situations and provide effective solutions; - Negotiation skill; - Support the chassis virtual car during concept phase and technical supervisor of the virtual car (DMU) during development phase; - Support the chassis CAE and virtual validation process (Multibody and FE Analysis and durability team) and the engineering group with virtual analysis and reporting; - Produce main data sheets containing principal parameters needed to assess the wheel spaces, ground clearance and the tire program; - Participate to pre-feasibility meetings during pre-concept phase or for special projects (Few off) and concept meeting (package meeting) during concept phase; - Define suspensions layout and elasto-kinematic of new suspension to fulfil the vehicle dynamics target using virtual simulation and physical test (K&C test); - Define through virtual analyses, targets for other departments to reach vehicle dynamics target (e.g., Body in White whole torque stiffness or BiW stiffness at suspensions connection point ); - Troubleshooting for components and systems during development phase or from field through virtual analysis and physical tests; - Support methodologies and design process optimization: strategies, process, and SW tools development to reduce design time as for achieve deadlines; - CAD knowledge (Catia V5 and data release systems), as well as multi-body simulation tools (Adams Car). Preferential requirements - Quality standards, processes, dynamics typical of an OEM car manufacturer; - Knowledge of component verification methods and procedures (e.g., testing specifications); - Problem solving, ability to synthesize information, priority management, proactivity, flexibility, resilience; - Ability to disseminate and transfer methodology and know-how in his/her own project team and to the rest of the department teams; - Legislative/homologation/rating constraints related to perimeter of competence. Other Informations: - Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering or equivalent. - Language skills: Fluent knowledge of written and spoken Italian and English are required.
