The position is permanent, remote, and based in Italy. What you will be doing We are seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to operate within Italy and our European growth markets. You will lead energy storage sales for cross-functional teams, ensuring predictable, profitable sales and successful project execution. You will report to the Area Sales Director. Your responsibilities include : Leading energy storage sales from initial bid to contract completion Vetting customers and opportunities for resource efficiency Managing key account relationships Developing pricing strategies and accurate cost estimates Leading stakeholders and sales teams to meet business goals Using S&OP data for cost and schedule assessments Understanding tenders and preparing high-quality offers Evaluating and mitigating risks Conducting internal reviews and securing approvals Following Wärtsilä contracting policies and securing proper contract terms Leading contract negotiations with winning strategies Tracking project sales progress in CRM (Salesforce) Ensuring smooth transfer of sales to project execution teams Qualifications and skills Minimum 5 years in utility-scale renewable energy, preferably with battery energy storage experience Strong safety promotion Proven leadership in high-performing sales teams Solution-oriented mindset Experience negotiating complex sales projects Contractual and risk management expertise Effective influencing and communication skills Leadership by example and fostering collaboration Broad understanding of energy storage solutions and market outlook Commercial acumen and structured approach Excellent team player and coach Results-driven with planning and change management skills Ability to inspire action towards goals Commitment to diversity, psychological safety, and inclusion Willingness to travel Success metrics Profitable project sales from start to finish Engagement of sales team, stakeholder collaboration, and customer satisfaction Some travel (~20%) is expected for customer meetings worldwide, mostly virtual.
