About the Role
D-Wave is seeking a Staff Technical Account Manager (TAM) with strong Optimization knowledge to lead technical engagements with Italian customers and support the integration and deployment of our quantum computing solutions.
In this client‑facing advisory role, you’ll act as a trusted technical advisor externally, helping customers identify use cases, solve complex problems, and achieve successful adoption of our platform. Internally, you’ll collaborate closely with sales, product, professional services and business development teams to ensure customer needs are met and value is delivered. The role is remote with potential transition to hybrid in Milan.
What You’ll Do
* Present our product to customer prospects, understanding their critical computational challenges and aligning our value proposition.
* Translate and present the company’s vision, strategy, and product roadmap to executive‑level and technical stakeholders.
* Deliver technical presentations at conferences, webinars, seminars, and client meetings.
* Support marketing efforts by hosting webinars and representing the company at industry events.
* Conduct regular technical meetings with clients during rollout, expansion, and support phases to identify opportunities for further ROI.
* Build and maintain long‑term technical relationships with customer teams across the project lifecycle.
* Identify and recommend new projects that can leverage D‑Wave’s solutions.
* Provide technical expertise on quantum optimization, industry trends, and competitive positioning.
* Convey customer requirements to internal product and development teams, advocating for client needs.
* Communicate complex technical information clearly across multiple platforms and audiences.
* Support the identification of professional service opportunities through discovery meetings with customers and prospects.
* Provide technical support to customers’ projects through Advisory Service.
* Travel as required to conferences, client meetings, training sessions, and sales events.
About You
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field; advanced degree a plus.
* 5+ years of combined experience in a technical customer‑facing role (Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Presales, Solution Integrator, Solution Architect, Customer Success) in enterprise software or comparable industry.
* Strong foundation in Optimization (Operations Research), algorithms, or applied mathematics.
* Familiarity with Operations Research techniques and tools (highly desired).
* 2+ years of hands‑on Python programming experience in an enterprise environment.
* Experience supporting clients in logistics, manufacturing, pharma, fintech, and/or research and education.
* Experience with GitHub, REST APIs, and related tools.
* Proven ability to communicate technical content to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
* Experience in logistics, scheduling, resource allocation, or similar focus preferred.
* Quantum computing, AI/LLM, and project management experience are pluses, not required.
