Role Purpose
To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English, supporting the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.

Main Accountabilities
* Support the British Council’s global English strategy by planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality English language teaching tailored to diverse customer needs and learning styles.
* Monitor student progress, provide regular feedback, and promote learner autonomy.
* Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English courses, materials, and services.
* Ensure teaching standards meet organisational expectations and quality benchmarks.
* Utilize technology effectively during lessons when required.
* Complete administrative tasks accurately and promptly.
* Enhance students’ understanding of the UK and build lasting relationships.
* Assist in covering classes for colleagues.
* Engage in professional development to maintain high teaching standards and stay at the forefront of ELT practices.
* Support local marketing and promotional activities and deliver excellent customer service.
* Uphold safeguarding, child protection, equality, diversity, inclusion, and health and safety standards.
Key Relationships
Internal: Other teachers, management, admin, customer services, wider BC teams, EFL community. External: Students, parents/guardians, publishers, partners, corporate clients, partner schools.
Role Requirements
Threshold Requirements
* Right to work in Italy (valid passport or EU Identity Card).
* Background checks including criminal record check and references.
* Professional qualifications: Cambridge CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent; undergraduate degree; Cambridge DELTA / Trinity Diploma or equivalent; TYLEC or CELTYL.
* Language proficiency: Full mastery of English (CEFR C2, IELTS 8/9).
* Experience: Minimum 2 years post-certification teaching experience across various age groups and levels, including young learners and adults, with at least two of the specified age groups.
* Skills: Classroom management, lesson planning, subject knowledge, understanding learners, working with technology, and promoting child safety and well-being.
