The opportunity We are looking for a Global Category Manager to develop and drive sourcing strategies for a diverse range of suppliers who support manufacturing, installation, retrofit, testing and commissioning activities across Hitachi Energy. In this role, you shape global category direction, guide execution and ensure that cost, quality, sustainability and innovation targets are met. You work closely with business units across regions and support alignment with key stakeholders. You lead complex negotiations, manage contracts and contribute to more competitive tender costing. You strengthen supplier relationships, guide lifecycle decisions and ensure that supplier partnerships support business continuity. You also drive responsible sourcing, sustainability actions and risk mitigation plans. How you’ll make an impact - You develop and implement global category strategies in line with business needs. - You nurture collaboration across regions and business units. - You oversee cost control processes and provide insights into pricing trends. - You lead RFx activities and run complex supplier negotiations. - You manage supplier lifecycle assessments, from qualification to desourcing. - You maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers. - You support budget setting and help achieve sourcing performance targets. - You identify supply chain risks and create contingency plans. - You drive sustainability and responsible sourcing actions within your categories. - You guide and empower regional and local sourcing teams to improve performance. Your background - You hold a degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field, or you have equivalent experience. - You bring at least 10 years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing. - You have a strong record of successful negotiations and strategy execution. - You can analyze complex data, identify trends and turn insights into strategies. - You communicate clearly and work well with suppliers and cross-functional teams. - You are willing to travel internationally to meet suppliers and stakeholders.
