PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to have a successful individual that will be responsible for managing an individual store through execution of the marketing and operations plans. Who will co-ordinate specific marketing, administrative, logistics, HR, sales, and operations sequences and attends to the general applications and interventions associated with the functionality within the store.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Asset Management
1. Responsible for the branch, ensuring that the outside of the store is kept neat and tidy and that inside fixtures and fittings are accounted for and maintained.
2. Co-ordination of maintenance and repair services
3. Protect and secure all company assets in the store
Stock Control
4. Responsible for all stock and will be held accountable for all overages and shortages
5. Prepare requisitions to replenish stock
6. Identify and report on slow selling items
7. Conduct stock takes and manage shrinkage within company requirements.
Merchandising
8. Manage the quality and quantity aspects of the merchandise assortments
9. Co-ordinate the layout of shelves and merchandise of seasonal and sale displays.
10. Identify new ways of promoting merchandise
11. Ensure required housekeeping standards are always maintained
Marketing and Sales
12. Manage the implementation of all marketing promotions to ensure maximum sales opportunities are exploited
13. Prepare and direct staff who are preparing merchandise displays in alignments with sales and marketing requirements
14. Actively participate in promotions
15. Stay up to date with current advertising trends
16. Provide sales leadership to staff
17. Stay current with products, marketing, and pricing of area retailers with similar products
18. Achieve and exceed store sales targets
19. Organizing special promotions sales & events
20. Initiating changes/improvement suggestions
21. Administration and Cash
22. Ensure that the standard of administration and procedures in store are met
23. Ensure that the responsible persons are following proper procedures when handling all store cash. Check and verify these documents daily.
24. Manage controllable expenses as this directly affects the profitability of the branch.
25. Reporting daily figures to Area Manager
Security / Risk
26. Manage the security in all aspects of the business and ensure that security procedures are strictly adhered to
27. Monitor security staff and make sure that they are alert and performing their duties to the maximum
28. Ensuring that Health & Safety standards are met
29. Attend to alarm call outs
Customer Services
30. Train staff in customer service
31. Assist customers with enquiries and complaints
32. Apply Customer Service principles in a friendly and enthusiastic manner daily
33. Continuously satisfy customer needs and attract clientele
People Management
34. Assign employees to specific duties, by way of their job description, tasking plans and goals
35. Encourage, assist, and train employees to become a motivated workforce driving sales
36. Manage performance and development of staff
37. Ensure that all procedures and policies are being followed and enforce disciplinary action when necessary
38. Manage the store staffing blueprint by replenish staffing through the company recruitment policy and processes
39. Manage time and attendance of staff
40. Conduct staff meetings
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
41. Matric Certificate.
42. NQF 5/6 Certificate or Diploma in Retail/Business Management preferable.
43. Valid Driver’s Licence – Code 8 unendorsed
44. 2-5 years in relevant Sales/retail/operations environment as an Assistant Manager/ Manager
