Our client is a leading European manufacturer of specialty papers, driving innovation in sustainable packaging and labelling. Our client is entering an exciting new growth phase, transitioning from a fine paper merchant model to a direct-to-converter commercial strategy.
Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to accelerate their specialty paper business across Italy. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role focused on driving new business with converters in wet glue labels, flexible packaging, and rigid packaging.
The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on hunter, combining commercial acumen, technical credibility, and strong relationship‑building skills to grow their footprint in strategic packaging segments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop new business: Identify, qualify, and convert target converters across Italy.
* Expand market share by selling value‑added specialty paper solutions (not price‑based selling).
* Build strong customer partnerships through regular visits (approx. 50% travel) and long‑term trust.
* Gather and share market intelligence on customers, competitors, and emerging trends.
* Negotiate effectively and ensure alignment with internal teams on pricing, allocations, and delivery performance.
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Brand Owner, and Customer Service teams to ensure seamless execution and growth.
Candidate Profile
* Proven experience in direct B2B sales to converters within paper, packaging, or labelling.
* Sound understanding of functional barriers, food packaging, and related applications.
* Entrepreneurial, self‑driven, and capable of operating autonomously in a decentralized environment.
* Fluent in English and Italian.
Location & Travel
* Based in Italy, with regular travel (approx. 50%) across the assigned region. Remote role.
* Reports directly to the Commercial Director of BU and collaborates closely with international colleagues.
