The Maitre Sommelier will assist in providing an exceptional experience to guests, supporting the selection, presentation, and service of wines in accordance with the highest hospitality standards. This role requires a passion for wine, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to work closely with the restaurant and bar teams to enhance the overall dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise the service in absence of another Head of Department
- Assist in curating and updating the wine list, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection.
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations to guests, enhancing their dining experience through wine pairings and food knowledge
- Serve wine in accordance with established service standards, ensuring correct presentation and glassware use.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and optimal conditions of the wine cellar.
- Monitor and manage wine inventory levels, conducting regular stock checks and ensuring minimal waste.
- Assist in planning and executing wine-related promotions, special offers, and themed events.
- Train and educate restaurant and bar staff on wine knowledge, service techniques, and proper handling.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations regarding wine storage and service.
- Participate in daily briefings and food tastings to recommend appropriate wine pairings.
- Provide feedback on guest preferences and wine sales trends to support business growth.

Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role or strong background in hospitality with a focus on wine service.
- Basic knowledge of wines, grape varieties, regions, and food pairings; certification (e.g., WSET Level 1 or 2) is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a guest-focused approach.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for continuous learning and professional growth in the wine industry.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
