You will have to be obsessed with delivering the most customer-centric experience for security engineering on the planet and be able to invent and simplify which is what we do every day on Amazon service teams.
Key responsibilitiesBuilding a massively scalable global security service that is core to all Amazon services.Owning the definition of best practices for the software development lifecycle used by junior engineers, including its design, implementation, testing, and operational characteristics.Working as part of cross-functional teams to develop secure solutions for our customers.Owning the technology stack for one of the most secure and reliable services in all of Amazon.
A day in the lifeAs a Senior Engineer you’ll be expected to:Serve as a technical lead on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.Ensure the quality of architecture and design of systems.Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.Fully and completely understand system interdependencies and limitations.Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.Leverage knowledge of internal and industry prior art in design decisions.Effectively research and benchmark Amazon technology against other competing systems in the industry.
Basic Qualifications5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systemsExperience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experienceBachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
