The Area Director of Sales and Marketing will actively sell, conduct site visits, and provide exceptional service to internal and external guests, and ensure the hotel staff is knowledgeable about all sales programs and key accounts. This position will work in conjunction with the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing.Essential Job FunctionsMaintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and nametag when workingApproach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented mannerMaintain regular attendance in compliance with Raines Co. standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotelCommunicate concerns and provide assistance where needed to promote a positive and healthy work environment(s)Work with the team to produce sales department reports on a timely basis and analyze short-term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenuesUtilize the various tools and resources provided by the brand and management company to carry out sales and marketing initiatives to drive overall revenues of the hotel to meet budgeted goalsMust be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems, as necessaryMust be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory resultsMust have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the needMust be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guestsCoordinate through General Managers to provide proper training for sales team members to develop each in their positionsReview weekly sales calendars with team members to ensure that they are pacing to meeting monthly sales expectationsOversee the completion of accurate and complete monthly Sales Dashboard month end reports by the due dates (typically 5th business day of following month) for each hotelEnsure that weekly/monthly the sales team members are pacing to complete their monthly required HP sales activitiesMaintain and promote a teamwork environment with effective and clear communication amongst co-workers and leadership at and above property levelsEnsure best client service is being made available through communication amongst the team, cross training within the department and appropriate office coverageWorks with sales managers to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy for the segmentsWorks with management team to create and implement a sales plan (i.E. 30-60-90-day plan). Follow and track company cross-sell proceduresAssists with the development and implementation of promotions, both internal and externalUpdating and owning the sales strategy & sales plan with the General Manager(s)Provides positive and aggressive leadership to ensure maximum revenue potential (e.G., sets example with personal booking goals)Use company-wide tools, systems and applications without exceptionLeads on-property sales functions to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel sales objectivesParticipates in sales calls with members of sales team to acquire new business and/or close on businessMaintain organized and accurate filing system on all accounts, including complete file on each active prospective or buying account, and trace file for future activitiesMaintain regular attendance in compliance with service standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotelComply with standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operationsKeep immediate supervisor informed of all matters requiring their attentionCorrespond with prospects and clients and answer any questions about the hotel’s venue options, rates, room types, packages or promotionsRecruit, retain, train and discipline sales team members as requiredExperience And EducationTwo years’ experience as a Director of Sales and Marketing or Senior Sales ManagerProven track record of driving revenue and exceeding goalsExperience with social media and marketingAbility to lead sales, revenue and marketing teamKnowledge of competitive market trends and pricing strategiesExperience with various hotel types to include full service, lifestyle and resortsProficient in Delphi FDC, Microsoft 365 and brand specific applicationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related major preferredTravelUp to 100% travel requirement.
