The Role We are seeking a tenacious, creative, and highly motivated Regional Account Manager to further develop an assigned region in Italy. You will be responsible for converting prospects into sales by differentiating from the competition and working with our channel partners to build and grow a joint Proofpoint business. The role involves interaction with organizations ranging from SMEs to large enterprises (dependent on region), typically up to CISO level, as well as with technical staff within security and IT departments. You will work closely with the Sales Engineer team, partners, and leverage corporate resources within your account base. You will manage a portfolio of focus accounts, including new and existing customers. Selling the full Proofpoint Platform, you will leverage all internal resources and our ecosystem of partners to grow your account portfolio. Your goal is to expand Proofpoint’s footprint, ensuring customers are protected from advanced threats and targeted attacks by our award-winning solutions. Drive and grow business within a specific geographical region in collaboration with channel partners. Establish influential relationships at the executive level within organizations of 750 to 2,500 users (cross-vertical focus) through face-to-face and online meetings. Map channel accounts, implement, and drive joint marketing activities with partners, and boost enablement. Hunt for new accounts and expand presence with existing customers by introducing the full breadth of our security, compliance, and information protection platform. Partner with the channel ecosystem to access new accounts and orchestrate add-on and upsell sales motions through channel partners to ensure comprehensive customer protection. Articulate and promote the company’s value proposition and services to become a trusted advisor within your customer base and channel partners/distributors. Collaborate with Sales Engineers to deliver product demonstrations and Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) effectively, highlighting value and differentiation. Leverage internal resources, including System Engineers, to develop account strategies and plans. Partner with Customer Success to contribute to Business Reviews. Deliver operational excellence, including forecast accuracy and pipeline progression. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Proofpoint’s competitive position in the marketplace. What You Bring to The Team Proven track record of exceeding targets and leveraging channel partnerships. Experience in technology sales, ideally selling SaaS solutions to SME and Mid Enterprise markets in Italy. Growth mindset, eager to learn and develop, and responsive to coaching. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly articulate Proofpoint’s value. High attention to detail and a persistent attitude, with a high level of activity emphasizing executive value selling (CISO, CIO, CMO, etc.). Ability to establish relationships at the executive level and become a trusted advisor. Experience closing complex opportunities, typically over $100k. Ability to develop a new business pipeline and forecast accurately. Skill in coordinating multiple resources for complex sales strategies. Familiarity with sales methodologies such as MEDDIC, Challenger, TAS, Command of the Message. Experience with CRM tools like Salesforce is preferred. Additional language skills are a plus.
