The scope of work is Tribal-wide, including work for other tribal governments, state and federal agencies, and the public. The environment is hierarchical, similar to tribal, federal, or state agencies, or the military. This position reports directly to the Tribe's IT / GIS Manager. Work involves office, outdoor, and vehicle-based tasks, sometimes in remote areas, requiring field work with GPS and UAS equipment. Duties may include lifting components up to 70 lbs. /ppbDuties and Responsibilities /b /pulliCoordinate technical GIS projects, plan and organize work, report progress, and make recommendations /liliDesign, create, and maintain the Tribe’s Enterprise GIS System, data, and software /liliAssist in data backup and security measures /liliManage enterprise GIS databases, including SQL Server and GIS-specific file databases /liliAssess needs and procure new data /liliPerform advanced raster and vector GIS analysis /liliCreate cartographic maps, reports, and GIS products /liliDevelop project-specific GIS applications or processes /liliImplement quality control measures /liliProvide technical assistance to GIS staff and users /liliDevelop and conduct GIS training sessions and present at workshops and conferences /liliEvaluate new GIS technologies /liliManage the Tribe’s UAS Program, including hardware, software, flight planning, and data processing /li /ulpAdditional duties include assisting with GIS product recommendations, staff evaluation, attending professional events, grant management, supervision of GIS staff, and other tasks as assigned. /ppbQualifications /b /pulliSupport the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s vision, mission, and values /liliComply with health policies, including annual flu shots /liliBachelor’s degree in GIS or related field plus at least four years’ GIS and enterprise database management experience, or a total of six years’ relevant experience and education /liliStrong skills in Microsoft Windows OS, SQL Server, Esri Geodatabases, ArcGIS software, programming languages (Python, SQL, .NET, HTML, JavaScript), and peripheral devices /liliExperience with UAVs, including flight planning, data collection, processing, and FAA Part 107 certification /liliKnowledge of habitat conservation, land management, and GIS applications in natural resources /liliExcellent research, presentation, problem-solving, and multitasking skills /li /ulpApplicants may undergo interviews and hands-on testing.
