This position is also responsible for planning and directing the work of inmate crews, basic reading of blueprints, performing material take‑offs, cost estimating and written bid specifications at the Arizona State Prison Complex - Eyman. /p h3Job Duties /h3 ul liSupervises, plans, and directs the activities of subordinates and/or inmate crews /li liEstablishes and carries out preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment, mechanical equipment, and facility maintenance activities /li liCalculates cost estimates for maintenance/construction projects, while working within budget constraints /li liMaintains records on all equipment/tools, repairs, and preventative maintenance /li liPerforms maintenance and construction duties on all facility buildings and/or equipment /li liCompletes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisor using basic office equipment/computer /li liAttends staff meetings and training as required /li liDrives on State business /li liPerforms other duties appropriate to the assignment /li /ul h3Knowledge, Skills Abilities (KSAs) /h3 h3Knowledge of /h3 ul liBudgetary issues, including estimating costs and ordering materials /li liBasic computer skills, Excel and MS Word to create forms, charts, and conduct research /li liNational and local building codes /li liStructural issues regarding building and utility service systems, to include blueprints, safety practices, and codes /li liAll trades, i.e., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general building maintenance, and preventative maintenance /li liSupervisory principles and techniques, including employee relations and work scheduling /li /ul h3Skill in /h3 ul liWritten and verbal communication /li liOrganization and scheduling of maintenance repairs /li liEstablishing a Preventative Maintenance Program for the facility /li liSupervisory skills to include interpersonal skills, employee relations, time management /li liCommunicate effectively with all organizational levels /li /ul h3Ability to /h3 ul liDemonstrate use of common and specialized tools, equipment, and materials /li liRead and interpret blueprints, sketches, and schematics /li liDemonstrate methods and practices of preventative maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction /li liWork in a prison environment /li /ul h3Selective Preference(s) /h3 pPrefer one (1) year of experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Specialist, or two (2) years equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician III, or any combination of training and experience. /p h3Pre-Employment Requirements /h3 pEmployment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.
