DescriptionJob Summary:The Scheduling/Buyer is responsible for the planning and procurement of materials and components in alignment with production schedules and customer requirements. This role ensures optimal inventory levels, on-time delivery of materials, and efficient coordination with internal teams and external suppliers to support operational goals.Key Responsibilities:Buying/Procurement Duties:• Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and services according to company policies and procedures.• Maintain accurate purchase order data and ensure timely deliveries.• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.• Track orders and resolve issues related to delays, pricing discrepancies, or quality concerns.• Monitor supplier performance and evaluate vendor compliance.Scheduling/Planning Duties:• Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resource utilization.• Coordinate with production, warehouse, and shipping departments to ensure material availability and workflow alignment.• Adjust schedules based on changes in demand, supply disruptions, or equipment downtime.• Use MRP/ERP systems to generate forecasts and plan materials.• Monitor inventory levels and take proactive measures to prevent shortages or overstock situations.Cross-functional Collaboration:• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, sales, and finance to align supply chain activities with business objectives.• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders regarding material status, lead times, and potential delays.RequirementsQualifications:• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, planning, or a similar role.• Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).• Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Experience in chemical manufacturing is a plus.Preferred Skills:• Advanced Excel skills or experience with data analysis tools.• High comfort level using Microsoft suite• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or just-in-time (JIT) principles.
