Senior Business Development & Marketing Executive – Europe
The Senior BD & Marketing Executive will play a central role in our European BD activities. They will be a ‘go-to’ person and a trusted advisor, providing day-to-day support to our offices in Geneva, Zurich, Milan, Paris, and Luxembourg. Reporting to the Europe Senior BD and Marketing Manager (Senior BDMM), and working closely with the Europe Business Executive (BDE) (both based in Paris), they will work seamlessly with the office heads and other partners in the Firm on a daily basis. This will include:
* Supporting the Senior BDMM to implement the BD plans; assisting with the preparation of business plans and annual budgeting materials and with the preparation of material for key strategy meetings.
* Working with partners to identify pitch opportunities; preparing select pitches and proposals, including providing globally consistent credentials for BD colleagues in other offices; supporting pitch meetings and being comfortable working to tight deadlines with limited guidance.
* Contributing to maintenance of a suite of marketing materials for the European practices, e.g. brochures, team sheets, and other client-facing materials in English and other local languages as needed, ensuring alignment with Charles Russell Speechlys brand specifications.
* Leading on the organisation of on-the-ground events, working closely with the Firm’s Events team and the BDE.
* Keeping up to date with current issues impacting the jurisdictions and identifying opportunities to raise the Firm’s profile. Undertaking ad hoc research on markets, sectors, industries, organisations and individuals.
* Project managing and drafting selected legal directory submissions and award submissions, working closely with the partners and associates, ensuring submissions are in the correct format and delivered on time.
* Maintaining the Firm’s European web pages and support the development of client newsletters.
* Acting as the point person for BD budget tracking for the offices, working alongside our BDM and Senior BDME to ensure that campaign groups are keeping to pre-agreed budgets. Analysing expenses to track BD activity against business objectives and identify any areas for improvement.
* Producing, distributing, and reporting on digital newsletters, legal updates and other direct mailings, working with the CRM team and the BDE.
* Preparing reports on European office BD and client activity and progress.
* Coordinating sponsorship, event, or conference activity, including branding, speaking opportunities, supporting presentation preparation, identification of client meetings, social media profiling of event, ROI reporting.
* Supporting the Senior BDMM, working with fee earners and our PR team, on the coordination of PR activity for Europe.
* Participating in firm-wide key project work and any other key BD deliverables for the senior management team (Director and Heads), i.e., supporting the Senior BDMM on the Firm’s client listening initiative, etc.
* Helping communicate and organise relevant training for partners and other fee-earners in the various skills necessary to develop prospects and win new business.
* Occasionally travelling between European offices.
* Working with the regional legal secretaries and office managers to ensure best practice in relation to activity logging and referrals in InterAction and the New Business Intake (NBI) process, and for selected key client accounts.
Qualifications and Experience
* IT savvy and computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Some knowledge of CRM systems (preferably InterAction)
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Involves liaison with internal and external people at a senior level and internationally
* Ideally speaks English, French, and German (written and spoken), Italian is a bonus but not essential
* Local market knowledge
