Advertised Job Summary
The Clinical Internal Medicine Clerkship Site Director oversees the day-to-day clinical activities and assessments of third-year medical students during their required clinical clerkships in Florence which includes, but is not limited to, the instruction and teaching of medical knowledge, skills, practices and procedures, orientation, academic advisement and hands-on medical training, as required by the USC SOM educational programs and performance objectives. Their activities will
be coordinated with the Office of Medical Student Education-Florence, which will provide administrative support. They will report to the Assistant Dean for Medical Student Education, Florence, and the Clerkship Director in Columbia. Given that each clerkship will have between 1-4 students on a rotation at a time, it is estimated that these duties will require no more than 1-4 hours per week. The Clerkship Site Director may also serve as a Clinical Preceptor. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
* MD or DO eligible for a faculty appointment in the School of Medicine.
* Completion of an accredited residency program.
* Strong interest in medical education.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
* Board Certified in specialty area.
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous work/teaching experience in an academic medical center.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Knowledge and ability to review the current written set of education goals and objectives for the clerkship with a plan for periodic review.
* Knowledge and ability to review learning objectives and goals for faculty and students in compliance with Liaison Committee on Medical Education ( LCME ).
* Strong written and verbal communications skills with a focus on the ability to teach effectively and promote a successful learning environment within the parameters and discipline guidelines of the School of Medicine.
* Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Objectively assesses the clinical faculty on their skills and works with them to improve their performance, if necessary.
