Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Satellite Functional Test Engineer for the Electrical and Functional Assembly, Integration, and Test department. This role involves integration and testing at subsystem and system levels, with full functional validation of spacecraft on Avionic Test Bench and Flight Models, typical of scientific/unique spacecraft.
The position includes testing electrical interfaces between units and external environments (e.g., RF communication) to validate performance against requirements and standards, as well as complete Functional Chain Validation (including closed-loop testing on AOCS and Mission Sequence Tests).
Specific Responsibilities
Validate spacecraft telecommunication systems on ATB and Flight Models.
Evaluate, negotiate, and finalize test requirements in collaboration with customers and engineering teams.
Define, prepare, execute tests, and evaluate results.
Participate in lifecycle reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, DRB) per ESA standards.
Develop technical requirements for RF SCOE specifications.
Supervise RF-related test campaigns (Radar Altimeter, Sounding radar, Allan deviation).
Define and conduct system tests, including conducted and radiated EMC tests.
Support interoperability testing with external entities (e.g., NASA, ESA).
This is a permanent position based in Torino, with possible travel abroad during test campaigns (up to two years).
Work shifts (24/7) may be required based on the program schedule.
Candidate Profile
Education Experience
Master's or PhD in telecommunications with focus on RF, TLC architectures, antennas, coding, and measurement techniques.
Fluent in English (C1 or higher certification).
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, including full scientific spacecraft AIT cycle up to launch.
Skills Knowledge
Practical knowledge of test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, VNA).
Understanding of RF measurement theory and performance evaluation.
Knowledge of EMC standards and testing (conducted and radiated).
Experience with ESD protection, magnetic cleanliness, and interference testing.
Design and operation of RF measurement systems.
Familiarity with ECSS TLC protocols.
Bonus: Knowledge of NASA planetary proximity protocols.
