The Category Manager is a key member of the ghd marketing team responsible for supporting the company's growth through the management, positioning, communication and commercialization of the latest innovations divided by product categories.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the entire performance of a specified category on a local basis, including category and competitor market shares (value and volume).
- Conduct competitor analysis including strategy, product range, pricing and how they link up to consumer trends.
- Lead the understanding, analysis, and documentation of competitor activity to ensure it is front and central in planning and activation.
- Perform pricing local analysis and proposals.
- Monitor and evaluate category performance, leveraging KPIs to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
- Generate regular polls and reporting with internal team providing launch and campaign feedback.
- Recommend new product concepts based on category knowledge, market intelligence, and input from markets.
- Analyze new product attributes & requirements, concept, claims, pricing, and positioning to optimize product reach, sales & profit.
- Design an annual promotional plan for each category to deliver national marketing plan, sales objectives, customer and consumer needs.
- Ensure category profitability, growth and alignment with the company's broader marketing strategy.
- Strong affinity for Digital with full understanding of Social Media networks/channels and their triggers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure 360 support across channels to drive category performance in line with the category A+CP budget goals.
Communication and Go to Market
- Develop local assets supporting launches for all channels.
- Work alongside the commercial department to assist in developing local promotional marketing plans, giving input and suggestions on how they fit with the local strategies and assets.
Qualifications and Skills
- Marketing qualification or equivalent.
- 5-8 years Category Management experience, pricing strategies.
- Full proficiency in English.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong affinity with beauty and trends is a plus.
- Advanced experience with Excel, or other analytical/Business Intelligence tools.
