Work requires independent judgment in managing multiple priorities and in coordinating work activities to meet established schedules and goals. Duties include specific tasks within seven areas of responsibility : /p ol liGIS system and database design / creation and maintenance /li liProject coordination /li liClient services /li liGeo-spatial product production /li liUnmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations /li /ol pWorkload ranges from moderate to heavy. The scope of work is Tribal-wide, potentially including work for other tribal, state, and federal agencies, and the public. The environment is hierarchical, similar to tribal, federal, or military organizations. The position reports directly to the Tribe's IT / GIS Manager. Work involves office, outdoor, and field activities, sometimes in remote areas, requiring physical effort and adherence to safety protocols. /p h3Duties and Responsibilities /h3 ul liCoordinate technical GIS projects, plan and organize work, report progress, and implement improvements /li liDesign, create, and maintain the Tribe’s Enterprise GIS System, including data and software /li liAssist in data backup, security, and disaster recovery planning /li liManage enterprise GIS databases using systems like Microsoft SQL Server, Esri geodatabases, and Access /li liAssess and procure new data sources as needed /li liPerform advanced GIS analysis and classification /li liCreate high-quality maps, reports, and GIS products /li liDevelop and customize GIS applications and workflows /li liImplement quality control measures for projects and products /li liProvide technical support and training to GIS staff and users /li liEvaluate new GIS technologies and tools /li liManage the Tribe’s UAS Program, including drone operations, flight planning, data collection, and imagery management /li liAssist in GIS product and service planning and budgeting /li liParticipate in staff recruitment and professional development /li liAttend industry seminars, workshops, and conferences /li liManage grant applications and reporting /li liSupervise GIS team members and interns /li liPerform other related duties as assigned /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liSupport the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s vision, mission, and values /li liComply with tribal health policies, including vaccination requirements /li liBachelor’s degree in GIS or related field plus at least four years’ GIS and database management experience; or a combined total of at least six years’ relevant experience and education /li liProficiency with Windows Server and desktop operating systems /li liKnowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Esri geodatabases, ArcGIS software, and programming languages (Python, SQL, .NET, HTML, JavaScript) /li liExperience with GIS peripherals and mobile applications /li liKnowledge of raster data, data storage, and GIS principles /li liExperience with GPS data collection and metadata standards /li liFamiliarity with CAD and Adobe Photoshop software /li liExperience with UAS operations, including drone flight planning, FAA regulations, and imagery processing /li liAbility to obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license /li liStrong research, presentation, problem-solving, and multitasking skills /li /ul pApplicants may be required to participate in interviews and practical tests.
