We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Design Engineer specializing in the design of cabin suspension systems for commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and industry regulations, with proven experience in utilizing 3D CAD software for design and simulation.
* Design, develop, and optimize cabin suspension systems, including mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, and electronic components, to ensure comfort, safety, and durability in light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles.
* Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings using state-of-the-art software (CATIA).
* PDM management.
* Definition of interfaces, concept studies and monitoring of design steps with internal and external partners.
* Cross-functional competences and collaboration with validation departments (virtual and vehicle), process engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, value analysis, engineering service providers and key co-design suppliers.
* Conduct structural analyses (FEA - Finite Element Analysis) and simulations to verify the performance and integrity of designed components under various operating conditions.
* Research and propose new technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to improve the performance and reduce the cost of suspension systems.
* Definition of basic requirements for new design projects (requirement management), product cards in consideration of function, efficiency, cost, weight and packaging for the next design steps (implementation of lessons learned on subsequent products).
* Management of developments together with Co-Design companies and partners.
* Definition and supervision of external work packages with engineering providers.
* Documentation of acquired knowledge in design standards.
* All documentation and written correspondence in English.
* Technical Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering automotive engineering or in a relate field.
* At least 3-5 years of proven experience in designing suspension systems, preferably in the automotive or heavy commercial vehicle sector.
* Familiarity with simulation and FEM analysis software.
* In-depth knowledge of materials (steels, light alloys, composites) and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, molding).
* Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and vibration principles.
* Knowledge of technical documentation (design, layout, drawing, dimensioning, tolerances), manufacturing technologies and materials
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, assertiveness, self-reliance and teamwork orientation also in intercultural teams
* Italian and English language fluent written and spoken, other languages are a plus
* Cross-functional collaboration with all involved stakeholders related to the system and its integration
* Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering principles and their application to vehicle design and development.
* CAD software: Proficiency in using CAD software such as Catia V5, V6
