We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator to oversee, optimize, and scale both MongoDB and relational database environments. In this role, you will ensure database reliability, performance, and security across cloud and on‑prem systems, while collaborating closely with software engineers to improve schema design and query performance. You will be a key contributor to database architecture, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies, helping to shape long‑term scalability initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced, technically challenging environment, bringing expertise in MongoDB, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL alongside cloud experience, particularly AWS. You will participate in on‑call rotations and play a vital role in maintaining operational excellence and data integrity across critical systems.
Accountabilities
* Act as the primary contact for all MongoDB‑related activities, including configuration, setup, and approvals.
* Maintain and support MongoDB databases across Atlas and on‑prem environments.
* Manage and support SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases in both on‑prem and AWS environments.
* Monitor database health, performance, and availability to minimize downtime.
* Advise software engineers on query optimization and schema design improvements.
* Implement database changes, apply patches, manage version upgrades, and maintain HA/DR strategies.
* Plan and contribute to long‑term database architecture and scalability initiatives.
* Assist with building and maintaining data extraction pipelines.
* Participate in on‑call rotations to support production systems.
Requirements
* 4+ years of experience across data platforms, including at least 2 years in a DBA role with MongoDB and relational databases.
* Hands‑on data engineering experience, preferably with Airflow.
* AWS experience of 1+ year.
* Advanced T‑SQL development skills.
* Proficiency with Git and modern code management workflows.
* Strong understanding of backup, recovery, security, and data integrity principles.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills with strong algorithmic thinking.
* Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced environments and meet deadlines.
* Fluent in English.
* Nice to have: experience with dbatools, Redgate SQL Toolbelt, Coralogix, CI/CD pipelines, and Liquibase.
