Overview
A Joint Venture between Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%), Thales Alenia Space is a global space manufacturer delivering high-tech solutions for telecommunications, navigation, Earth Observation, environmental management, exploration, science and orbital infrastructures. TASI Turin is looking for a Project Manager. The candidate will work in Torino inside the DESI (Domain Exploration and Science Italy) Operation Unit. The candidate shall perform project management activities focused on the implementation phase for habitable modules, space vehicles and infrastructures for Moon orbit and surface, and robotic missions to Mars, paving the way for future human missions to the red planet. The candidate will coordinate the full project team and interface with Space Agencies and Customers in a complex international scenario, primarily institutional but with potential future commercial opportunities. The work requires planning discipline, attention to schedule and economic objectives (order intake, revenues and cash flow), and proactive engagement with customers to identify new opportunities.
As a Project Manager, the candidate with at least 5 years of experience in human spaceflight and robotic missions will contribute across project management lifecycles for a wide range of complex and high-profile projects within the planetary exploration directorate. Thales Alenia Space seeks candidates with extensive experience in managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with significant complexity, and with the ability to identify risks and develop effective business strategies for future evolution (towards the Moon space economy). Availability for missions abroad and resilience to work under pressure are required.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the full project team and interface with Space Agencies and Customers in an international environment.
* Lead planning and commitments to schedule and economic objectives (order intake, revenues, cash flow).
* Identify new work opportunities with customers through trust, reliability and proactive attitude.
* Manage all aspects of the project lifecycle and methodologies for complex planetary exploration programs.
* Develop and implement detailed project plans to monitor and track project performance.
* Ensure on-time deliverables through effective coordination of resources and day-by-day leadership and management guidance.
* Operate with user-centric focus, inspire teams, and deliver solutions that meet stakeholder needs.
* Travel for missions abroad as required and demonstrate resilience under pressure.
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of experience in human spaceflight and robotic missions.
* Experience in managing large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with significant complexity.
* Proven ability in risks identification and management and in developing business strategies for future evolution (Moon economy).
* Proficient in developing and implementing detailed project plans and in ensuring on-time deliverables.
* Strong day-by-day leadership and management capability to guide operational activities and execution of business strategy.
* Willingness to work on missions abroad and ability to operate under pressure.
