Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems, and Asset Management. Italy is also Thales Group’s competence centre for tramway signalling solutions.
The SIX domain provides mission-critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens security, including supervision, control, information management systems, and cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers, helping to detect and prevent cyberattacks through secure architectures designed from the outset, overseeing these architectures to ensure continued security. Italy serves as Thales Group’s competence centre for airport security and operations management solutions.
Job Objective
To design and implement Electro-Mechanical Systems for Bids and Projects.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Scout continuously the Defense Market and Thales Products Portfolio to find innovative solutions, especially following digital transformation trends.
* Analyze and understand customer needs or R&D call specifications to define and manage related requirements.
* Design complex Telecom and Security Systems aligning with stakeholder expectations, budget, risk mitigation, quality constraints, project schedule, technology roadmap, and business strategy.
* Manage vendor subcontracts from a technical perspective.
* Support specialists to guarantee Cyber-by-Design.
* Develop engineering documentation such as Product Breakdown Structure, Architecture, Interconnection Diagrams, Functional Specifications, Interfaces Control Details, Test Procedures, and O&M Manuals.
* Ensure project technical integration and conduct integration, verification, and validation tests.
* Contribute to bid and project engineering reviews.
* Formalize and demonstrate the selected solution to the customer.
Work Experience Requirements
Experience in projects with technological content such as Structured Cabling Systems, Electrical/Powers/Battery Systems, HVAC, Technical Laboratory, PV Plants, Industrial Cabinets, or CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear), especially leading engineering activities with a Design-To-Cost approach and V Cycle methodology.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements
* Master’s Degree in Engineering (Energy, Electrical, Biomedical, Automation, Mechanical) or Physics.
* Experience in System Requirement Management and Technical Specification Writing.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
* Customer-facing skills, including presentations and meetings.
* Planning and reporting skills.
* Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
* Ability to coordinate with external contractors and suppliers.
* Flexibility to work in various environments: office, smart working, and construction sites.
* Effective teamwork capabilities.
* Experience working in multicultural and multilanguage environments.

* Security needs for Critical Infrastructures.
* Defense business and market knowledge.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
