Job Introduction

Serco is a leading Space Services Provider with thousands of skilled resources that has supported over 50 space missions on behalf of more than 10 Space or Government agencies around the globe, including the ESA and NASA. Serco offers space capability across the full space lifecycle from satellite testing to launch services, LEOP to spacecraft operations, space surveillance to data management, and supporting downstream application development.

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager, to reinforce the team in our Italy office!

Main Responsibilities

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving strategic growth and sales initiatives within the Space sector.

You will be responsible for:

10. Business Development & Sales StrategyExecute the commercial strategy and sales plan in alignment with the European Business Development DirectorDevelop and manage a robust pipeline of new business opportunities to meet growth targets in order bookings and marginsLead end-to-end business development activities across the bid lifecycle, including win theme development, pursuit strategy, pricing, teaming, and solution development

Customer Engagement & Capture Management:

11. Build and maintain consultative relationships with key stakeholders and customers to position Serco at the forefront of upcoming opportunities
12. Understand customer needs and align them with Serco’s capabilities, identifying gaps and implementing tailored capture strategies
13. Promote Serco’s value proposition and capabilities through proactive engagement and representation

Collaboration & Governance:

14. Coordinate with internal teams including bidding, legal, finance, and operations to ensure successful deal execution in compliance with corporate governance
15. Collaborate with Business Development Directors to support capture management and competitive pricing strategies
16. Analyse unsuccessful bids and integrate lessons learned into future proposition development

Market Representation & Networking:

17. Represent Serco in relevant professional associations and industry events
18. Coordinate Serco’s presence at sales events and fairs in collaboration with the European marketing team
19. Develop and maintain a network of senior relationships within the customer and industry community to identify and pursue new opportunities

Successful Candidate

Your skills:

20. Fluent in English
21. Open minded and able to interact with confidence with all stakeholders
22. Motivated by challenge and looking for business success
23. Enjoys teamworking and is used to cooperate with bidding, legal, finance and operational teams in an international environment
24. Strong communication and collaboration skills
25. Exercises good judgement with decision-making skills
26. Good analytical skills with the ability to assimilate information quickly, cut through to determine resolution, communicate key messages simply and effectively to the business
27. Demonstrated understanding in building opportunities.
28. Minimum of 2 years of experience in same role

Preferred but not required:

29. Good knowledge about Space sector with focus on Earth Observation, Downstream applications, R&D projects
30. Understanding of EO applications and data processing algorithms
31. Understanding of EO market development
32. Experience in Earth Observation projects in the downstream domain
