Sr. Business Development Manager, AWS Private Equity

Would you like to own managing relationships with the Private Equity (PE) community, and influencing decision making towards utilizing Amazon Web Services as the basis for their portfolio companies' infrastructure? Do you have the business savvy, the technical insight, and the background necessary to mesh with the PE ecosystem and to help further establish Amazon as the leader in the cloud computing space?
As a business development manager within AWS, you will help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon's cloud computing platform within the PE firms and their portfolio companies.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Business Development team in helping to drive overall AWS market and technical strategy.
- Identify key PEs with portfolio companies that have infrastructure needs, and drive engagement with those PEs.
- Execute the strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (sales teams, partners, marketing, support, etc.).
- Work closely with the PEs and the portfolio companies to ensure they are successful using our web services, making sure they have the technical resources required.
- Understand and actively utilize salesforce.com and other internal Amazon systems.
- Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to establishing new PE engagements.
- Serve as the primary eyes and ears to the PE community on behalf of AWS and Amazon.
- Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market.
- Possess relevant business level technical knowledge such as database systems, core distributed computing concepts, fundamentals of cloud computing & virtualization, storage systems, content delivery networks (CDNs), etc., with the ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between varied AWS services.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing, negotiating and executing business agreements.
- 5+ years of professional or military experience.
- 5+ years of working with Core Cloud Technology Services (Compute, Edge, Hybrid, Security, Networking).
- 5+ years of working with Business Application Technologies (EUC, Supply Chain, Contact Center as a Service, Consumer Data Applications, Encrypted Communications, Communication Developer Services).
- 5+ years of solving problems with technology in Healthcare/Life Sciences, Media & Entertainment, Global Financial Services, Telecommunications, Automotive & Manufacturing, Energy & Utilities industries.
- 5+ years of Go‐To‐Market, Business Development, Sales, or Consulting experience.
- 5+ years of working with Advanced Compute technologies (Accelerated Compute, High Performance Compute, Visual/Spatial Compute, IoT).
- 5+ years of working with Enterprise Application Modernization and Migration technologies (Mainframe, Serverless, Containers, Cloud Operations).
- 5+ years of working with Data & AI related technologies (AI/ML, GenAI, Analytics, Database, Storage).
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
- Experience managing programs across cross‐functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.
- Experience selling enterprise software or cloud‐based applications.
- Experience explaining complex technical concepts to various business and technical audiences.
- Experience presenting to both technical and non‐technical executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations.
- Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements.
- Demonstrated track record of owning and driving business outcomes through executive-level stakeholder relationships, with proven ability to influence strategic decision‐making.
- 5+ years experience managing Private Equity relationships or working in a Private Equity firm.
