Lead Counsel, Data Protection (Commerce and Fintech) Responsibilities: - Collaborate with product and various business teams at all stages of product development to assess data protection compliance and to identify any potential legal risk and provide counselling on risk-mitigation - Analyse services, policies and initiatives to provide practical legal assessments of risk across multiple jurisdictions - Provide full service support to wider legal team on European regulatory and litigation matters and liaising with regulators - Provide policy, legal, product, engineering, and other business teams with legal advice on data protection laws and regulations including for external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions - Monitor and respond to developments in data protection and relevant consumer laws (i.e., new laws, regulations, important judgements, regulatory guidance, etc.). Minimum Qualifications: - Qualified to practice law in at least one EU jurisdiction - Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience (e.g. at a law firm or as in-house counsel) - In-depth knowledge of legal issues in the area of data protection laws and the GDPR, including a solid understanding of the operation of online social media platforms. - Strong understanding and experience of advising on data protection issues in the context of fintech/payments or eCommerce - Excellent multi-tasking and organisational skills - Strong problem solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
