We are a high-profile founding team, having just closed one of the largest pre‐seed rounds in Italy, and we are growing fast.The RoleYou will become Pillar's in‐house construction domain expert, guiding the team in understanding and innovating construction processes, with a particular focus on quantity surveying and jobsite document management. You will translate your hands‐on field experience into product decisions that change the way the industry works.What You'll Do
Map and reorganize the operational workflows of quantity surveying — from work categories to regional and DEI price lists — identifying how AI and automation can simplify processes that are still performed manually today.Lead the product team on module and workflow prioritization, deciding which construction processes to tackle first based on impact and technical feasibility.Define standards for documentation and payment certification, ensuring the product accurately reflects the operational and regulatory reality of construction sites.Collaborate with founders and developers to transform traditional construction processes into scalable digital logic.Support product validation with clients and industry stakeholders, translating operational feedback into development requirements.
Technical Context
System: SaaS platform for the integrated management of construction sites, invoicing, quantity surveying, and payment certificates.Main tools: Modern web/mobile stack, API integrations with accounting and management systems.Domain: Quantity surveying, regional price lists, payment certificates, jobsite documentation, construction regulations.Operating environment: Fast‐growing startup, agile setting, close collaboration with founders and the technical team.Key constraint: Simplifying legacy processes without compromising regulatory compliance.
Who We're Looking For
At least 3 years of hands‐on experience in quantity surveying, payment certification, or construction site document management.Degree in civil or structural engineering, with solid practical knowledge of price lists and construction works.Familiarity with document workflows, payment certificates, and construction regulations.Change‐oriented mindset: ability to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions that are radically different from the status quo.Willingness to learn digital tools and collaborative software (Slack, Notion, project management tools).
Preferred Requirements
Experience in startups or technology innovation contexts within the construction sector.Familiarity with automation or AI applied to operational processes.Experience with DEI price lists and related standardization workflows.
What We Offer
